Sofara is an online store for kitchenware and small appliances: ovens, mincers, barbecues, pans, pots and traditional cookware. I built its WordPress theme from scratch on top of WooCommerce.
What it does
- A homepage with a full-width image slider.
- Custom product archive and single-product templates.
- Navigation menus and a sidebar managed from the WordPress admin.
How I built it
Instead of overriding a heavy multipurpose theme, the theme has only the templates the shop needs: header, footer, archive, single product, page and 404. WooCommerce’s default stylesheets are switched off (woocommerce_enqueue_styles returns an empty list) and the theme styles the shop itself, so there is no plugin CSS to fight.
Product photos are served as WebP to keep category pages fast on mobile connections.
